Lockstraps Test
Lockstraps
Hey guys i got to do a not so planned test on my Lockstraps the other day. A friend of mine wanted to back his car into my mud pit so of course we let him, well he got high centered no real big suprise, we kinda expected it. Well we didnt think of it at the time but we had no pull straps on us. Lol OOOOPPPPSSSSS, all i could find was my 24' Lockstrap extension strap, so i said what the heck here goes the test of a lifetime. I looped the carabiner around the cars frame, the looped around reciever hitch on truck an back to car, so roughly 12' yank. We did 3 yanks on the car and it came out and the only scratch on the strap was a lil outer rub from being around the frame of he car. Here is a vid i did of use yanking with the strap. Click this link to view the video of he test, Lockstrps test, hope you enjoy

Reading a Wiseco piston
Reading a wiseco piston
I recently purchased a set of rings for my Rancher, i does have a wiseco piston in it. At first i had trouble trying to figure out which set of rings to buy, after talking to Helmut he asked me what my bore size was and of course i didnt have an answer. I waited til Monday to call wiseco, and he asked me what the number was on the top of the piston. Now here is a pic of my piston.
Now as you can see the Number reads 4933M07850, Now from listening to him i would say the 4933M is the piston series, not sure if it is Honda specific, or just series specific. The last 5 numbers are 07850 which tells you the bore size is 78.50 so when i went to purchase my rings i new what series and bore size i need before i even call them. Dont know if this works for all brand pistons but if you have a wiseco thats how you read the piston.

Gear reductions
A gear reduction for all-terrain vehicles (ATV), reduces the drive ratio, thereby increasing the load pulling capacity of the vehicle and providing for a lower-end torque. most gear reductions are made of a carbon steel bar cut to a seventeen-tooth drive gear (as opposed to the original nineteen-tooth drive gear found in typical ATVs). The gear reduction enables the ATV to be more powerful while avoiding major modifications to the motor, thereby eliminating the creation of undesirable heat in the motor.
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were created in the 1970's for a variety of purposes, from leisure to agriculture and farming or forestry and construction. Typically they have four wheels and are meant for individual use. Some ATVs are equipped to carry small loads, but do not have a tremendous amount of load-carrying capacity or torque. There is a need for a way of enabling an all-terrain vehicle, to have more low-end power and torque without having to do major modification to the motor of the vehicle, which could lead to overheating.
In times we live in now most gear reductions are installed to allow an ATV to turn larger tires, this is due to the fact that an ATV is not geared to turn most tires larger than 26" in height. We need to realize when doing a gear reduction we increase our low end torque while cutting down on our top end speed. With the ATV industry always changing and seem to have the mind set of GO BIG OR GO HOME, we see tire sizes of up to 32's. You see such tires as the Highlifter Outlaw 2, the INterco Black Mambas.

Atv tires
At some point while riding your atv the tires will need to be replaced and or upgraded. Now Choosing a new atv tire can be the hard part, with the many different kinds of tires on the market. Next you must decided on what type of application your gonna be riding, wether it is deep mud, trails, or track. Many dont think well how is a tire Made when they are looking at a particular tire. You should also consider the weight of a tire when choosing a tire, the heavier the tire the harder it will be for certain engines to turn the tire.
For example you have tires such as the Interco Black Mamba, Highlifter Outlaw 2. So when choosing the right atv tire take all these things into consideration.
